JOB TITLE/Reference #: #145 Senior Data Architect/Modeller

Duration of Assignment: 15 months

Client: Public Sector

Start date: January 1st , 2012

End date: March 31 st, 2013

Location: GTA

Scope

A qualified Data Architect/Modeller is required to develop during the project Concept Phase the data architecture as part of an application development initiative in a complex and distributed environment, including the determination of the flow and distribution of data, the location of databases, and data access methods.

The technology priorities for this project include;

  • Provide a clear design for development decisions
  • Identify common data and business components that could be shared between branches and programs
  • Replace aging technology with current and aligned systems supporting the MAPS II Legacy renewal initiative

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • A list of skills and knowledge that the candidate must have to be considered a Data Architect
  • Experience in the development and implementation of data architectures at the specified experience level
  • Knowledge and experience in information resource management tools and techniques
  • Experience with at least two different platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, languages and communications protocols
  • Knowledge of performance considerations for different database designs in different environments
  • Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development and implementation of applications
  • Experience in systems analysis and design in large or medium systems environments
  • Experience in the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools for the development and documentation of data architectures and detailed data models
  • Experience in the use of Datamodelling methods and tools ( eg ERWIN, VISIO ) including a working knowledge of metadata structures, repository functions, and data dictionaries
  • Experience in monitoring and enforcing Datamodelling/normalization standards
  • Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (eg models)

Desirable Skills:

  • The following is a list of skills and knowledge that the candidate must have to successfully complete the deliverables.
  • Experience in designing/developing an automated data distribution mechanism
  • Knowledge and understanding of object-oriented analysis and design techniques
  • Experience developing data models for other workflow applications
  • Experience in data modelling for information/content management systems such as Open Text
  • Successfully completed information design Artifacts in the client's sufficient to satisfy Checkpoint 2 and checkpoint 3 reviews
  • Experience with Middleware and gateways
  • Knowledge of Zachman Framework including business/information/application/technology/security architectures
  • Oracle, SQL Server, .NET and SOA Environment Technical Skills
  • Understanding of re-usable, loosely coupled self contained application components
  • Experience in facilitating workshops for the development of design Artifacts
  • Experience with enterprise reporting tools
  • Experience with Sybase PowerDesigner to develop and maintain data models
