Title: Infrastructure Architect 

JOB SUMMARY
 
This is a &global role& with responsibility to provide technical oversight and serve as a solution design authority for the client. This &senior& individual should be capable and well versed in network architecture, enterprise services, desktop and security requirements within the utility industry and understand the strategic direction to ensure solutions are aligned with that strategic direction and are in compliance with corporate standards. This experienced Sr. Infrastructure Architect will work with the Design and Optimization team and the lead Architect, as part of the Solution Design Team for the Infrastructure element of IS Transformation.

Workstream covered by this Solution Design Team are:
- Network (Verizon).
- ICE (IBM).
- SMI (HP).
- Enterprise Services (CSC/IBM).
- Desktop (CSC/IBM).
- Mange Print Services (MPS - Xerox).
 
This role will include:
Co-chairing the Solution Design Team with Design and Optimization.
Drive resolution of solution design issues within workstreams and cross workstream.
Review and progress critical and high level design issues raised, and where appropriate, detail aspects that are causing delays and issues.
Ensure integration/conceptual design across the whole IS transformation Infrastructure towers and solution components.
Manage integration across key technical components.
Define and agree on integration patterns/approaches across solution components.
Leverage partner and vendor representatives to maximize reuse.
Review architectural compliance.
Raise exceptions where warranted with the Strategy and Architecture team. 
 
Additional Information regarding the requirements:
Minimum of 5 years experience working as a senior infrastructure consultant.
Detail knowledge of infrastructure and technology components, with a proven track record of successful delivery.
Experience chairing Solution Design Authority Boards on large programs of work.
Experience in motivating a global team with Matrix deliverables.
Good Commercial focus good understanding of the cost and value drives of IS and business.
Good stakeholder management and influencing skills at colleagues, partners/vendors &.project sponsors
Demonstrate the application of National Grid values in all interactions with Colleagues, partners, vendors and stakeholders.
Demonstrate the Valued Business Partner capabilities and behaviors in all interactions with IS Colleagues, vendors and business stakeholders.

- Utilities (HIGHLY Preferred).
- Avaya/Nortel.
 
EDUCATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
 
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
 
Certifications:
- Certifications are preferred.
