We are currently searching for a (Senior) Scientist to work in The Netherlands (West) for 6 months + extensions. This is a fantastic contract opportunity for a large multi-national client.

Department/Project:

The Vaccine Research department is part of the Innovation and Discovery Laboratory and focuses on the research and development of vaccines against infectious diseases. Within Vaccine Research department, the Preclinical Vaccine research group evaluates the immunogenicity and efficacy of potential vaccine candidates against infectious diseases in animal models. The main focus of the group is to conduct proof of concept studies, which would generate appropriate scientific data that enable our vaccine candidates to progress towards clinical phase evaluation.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist with at least three years of working experience in immunology or/and vaccinology. The scientist will work in the preclinical evaluation of potential vaccine candidates in animal models.
The role requires knowledge of immunological techniques such as ELISPOT, ELISA, FACS analysis, and other project specific readout systems, as well as knowledge of animal models of infections; thorough knowledge of infectious diseases and relevant animal models to assess potency and efficacy of vaccine candidates; scientific appreciation of the complexity of immunologic pathways and responses. You will be responsible for the coordination and execution of a research project in order to achieve the goal(s) that is defined for the project. Good skills in documentation, evaluating and reporting results, and writing DEC protocols, scientific documents/papers are required.
You will work in close collaboration with researchers, clinical developers, project management on new vaccines, and CRO's. The role requires team player skills, self-motivation and initiative, project management skills, reliability, efficiency, flexibility and enthusiasm. Areas of responsibility. Plan, manage and execute research projects. Provide scientific rationale for proof of concept studies. Keep updated and implement novel technology or readout assays. Translate research goals into action and accomplish the research target(s). Create intellectual property. Coaching of technicians and/or students. Writing scientific publications. Primary development areas (part of the training and career courses). Job related courses on (novel) technology

Desired Skills & Experience

Minimum Qualifications:
* PhD in a relevant discipline such as biochemistry, biology, life sciences, or related fields. Art 9 certificated. Immunology/Vaccine Background. Basic managing skills. Training skills. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within a pharmaceutical company. Knowledge in viral vector systems (Adenovirus, Retro-/Lentivirus, AAV).. Experience in tissue culture, transfection, molecular cloning, protein purification and characterization methods (eg ELISA, Western blot, FACS, a.o.) is preferable.
