Release/Implementation Manager - 6 month contract - West Sussex.

My client, a financial services blue chip, are looking for a Release/Implementation Manager to manage the migration of applications from an existing Mainframe system to a Windows OS.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Take an active part of the transformation management team taking ownership for the planning and timely executions of Mainframe and mid-range migration events.
  • Establish and gain stakeholder buy-in to a Service Readiness framework which shall include the service recipient's/service owner's pre-requisites for the implementation and cutover. This shall map against the Programme's standard gating criteria but shall include input criteria for:

    • Technical readiness: functional and non-functional test completion
    • Business readiness: training, communications and business testing
    • Financial readiness: analysis and testing to ensure probity of changes on financial reporting
    • Procedural readiness: testing shutdown and start-up procedures to ensure data and sequencing remains synchronised, upstream/downstream systems are not negatively impacted
    • Interface readiness: complete inventory with ownership and detailed cutover procedure per interface
    • IS Service readiness: bespoke set of agreed criteria for major changes (Service Introduction)
    • Other readiness criteria as appropriate, for instance Claim Analytics/Operations

  • Work with Mainframe Migration Project Managers and the Business Engagement Manager to create and own detailed implementation/release plans. These shall include roles and responsibilities of each participant, checkpoints, rollback & back-out procedures, worst case scenario preparation, agreed/tested sign-off processes and escalation points.
    • Act as the configuration and release manager for the Programme, ensuring that all code versions are understood and managed across the parties developing on an application
    • Assure the "dry run" process of migration and roll-back, including facilitation for business-readiness functions
