The Senior Ab initio ETL Developer is responsible for the coordination of the design, development, maintenance, enhancement, communication and governance for ETL applications. This involves coordinating and analysing data requirements as well as evaluating and determining the best technical approach for an ETL project with support of the Source environments as well as Datawarehouse and reporting requirements. This position is a member of the Healthcare Informatics IT team in collaboration with the Manager of Application Development; Quality Assurance team; the Product Management team; the Datawarehouse team; the Solutions Center and other IT stakeholders to ensure that the applications development projects meet the required deliverables. Conducts code reviews and uses data modelling skills to ensure application effectiveness. This position provides solutions to resolve product and customer issues.

Daily responsibilities would include:
- Development of the extraction, transformation and load processes (ETL).
- Analysis and definition of data flow requirements.
- Interpretation of the transformation rules for all target data objects.
- Development of the software components to support the transformation of data.
- Documentation of technical specifications.
- Preparation and implementation of data verification and testing methods.
- Performance and tuning of ETL processes and preparation of business and technical documentation.
- Provide technical support and hands-on mentoring in the use of Ab Initio.
- Lead project teams (including users and developers), to plan, coordinate, analyze, design, develop, and implement application systems and/or enhancements to existing systems to meet current and future needs.
- Create a test repository (per best practices).
- Modify/extend the schema.
- Design and build graphs.
- Correctly use both API and Utility modes of the output table component.
- Migrate ETL programs to QA and production.
- Research and stay abreast of technology trends.
Knowledge & Skills (COMPETENCIES) Required:
- Advanced to expert knowledge of the Ab Initio ETL development tool to include:
- Competency with one or more of the major components of the Ab Initio suite: Continuous flows, EME, GDE, BMR, etc.
- Advanced knowledge in Scripting with Korn Shell and SQL.
- Perl is a plus.
- Knowledge of other ETL tools such as Datastage, Informatica, or Microsoft DTS is a plus.
- Advanced Database knowledge including Oracle, SQL Server and Redbrick
- Specific knowledge of data warehousing and Business Intelligence tools is desirable.
- Officient with Unix and NT systems
- Advanced skills in applications development
- Advanced understanding of the software development life cycle
- Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of testing and QA procedures
- Work well in an unstructured environment with frequently changing priorities.
- Familiarity of Business Intelligence tools such as MicroStrategy or Business Objects is a plus
- Intermediate to Advanced technical problem solving abilities; ability to trouble shoot and provide solutions for products and customers; solve tough and complex problem, and deliver quality decisions under conditions of ambiguity.
- Ability to develop and enhance web based Business Intelligence applications by ensuring that the ETL processes that populate the Datawarehouse run efficiently and defect free.
- Knowledge of use of the Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work autonomously with very limited supervision as well as collaboratively with others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to include advanced interpersonal and communication skills

Education & Experience Required:
- A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) required
- Computer Science or related discipline
- 5-7 years experience
- Minimum of 5 years of IT applications development experience.
- Experience with clients to document requirements by conducting interviews and facilitating JAD sessions.
- 3 to 5 years in development and architecture utilizing Ab Initio tools for full life cycle terabyte class Datawarehouse projects.
- Development experience in a UNIX environment (HPUX, Solaris, AIX, Linux).
- E: Advanced to expert knowledge of the Ab Initio ETL development tool to include:
