DESCRIPTION

The Engineer will help to develop network designs for a wireless, Wireline, and broadband infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Applies the necessary tools and engineering principles to create and design the network infrastructure in accordance with approved guidelines.
  • Coordinates and interfaces with internal and external customers to ensure service commitments are met.
  • Uses engineering tools, various software applications, and databases to assist in creating the engineering documents.
  • Prepares/oversees cost/benefit estimates, presentations, negotiations, installation, problem resolution, and multivendor product integration.
  • May provide initial implementation support of networks to assure proper execution and provides resolution for system failures or degradations.
  • Provide project management and documentation as required.
  • Applies in-depth knowledge of discipline/specialty area standards and processes to work.
  • Integrates industry experience and deep professional/technical knowledge.
  • Solves unique problems through evaluative judgment and precedent.
  • Independently applies sophisticated analysis in evaluating issues and develops new concepts, methods and techniques for cross functional initiatives.
  • Recognizes and pursues alternative methods.
  • Leads multiple projects of small to medium size and technical breadth.
  • Key contributor on complex projects and initiatives.
  • Impacts current and future business opportunities through application of specialized technical and industry knowledge.
  • Develops methods and techniques based on strategic project objectives.

  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
Qualifications
  • TCP/IP expertise.
  • Cisco Networking knowledge.
  • VPN ( Nortel/Cisco) skills.
  • Unix(Solaris/Linux) familiarity.
  • Router Technology and Switch Technology experience.
  • Subject matter expert within own discipline/specialty area and basic knowledge of other disciplines/specialty areas.
  • Deep technical knowledge.
  • Familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and procedures that are related to Capacity Management.
  • ITIL knowledge certification is not mandatory but desirable.
  • Knowledge of networking, server platform, and storage engineering.
