Job Purpose:
The Database Engineers role is to strategically design and implement large scale data migrations/conversions into products using Microsoft SQL Server . Additionally, the Database Engineer will be called upon to design and implement highly custom large scale database solutions that augment products. On occasion, the Database Engineer will be asked to evaluate, size and select technology Focusing more broadly on projects that impact multiple areas of products, the Database Engineer will work directly with external clients using both analytical skills and subject matter expertise in financial applications to gather requirements, design solutions and execute implementations.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform extensive analysis of database entities, relationships and attributes.
Participate in both data design and data processing sessions for assigned projects and teams.
Create migration/conversion designs that meet the project's business, system and data requirements.
Create written data migration/conversion plans and data file/data model specifications that meet the project's business, system and data requirements.
Reverse engineer existing migration/conversion processes and data models including designing and utilizing Microsoft SQL Server Profiler traces.
Design and develop ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) processes using Transact-SQL (T-SQL) and Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
Optimize ETL processes and T-SQL code performance using Microsoft SQL Server best practices and query/index/table performance tuning.
Candidate Attributes:
Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Deep understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL and SSIS including data validation, data cleansing and performance optimization/tuning.
Experience with data processing and ETL approaches and techniques.

Job Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
4-6+ years technical expertise in database and ETL development with Microsoft SQL Server primarily T-SQL and DTS/SSIS.
Extensive development experience in analysis, modeling and design of database solutions.
Technical understanding of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Server .
Application development understanding of Microsoft .NET technologies primarily ASP.NET and C#.
