Randstad Care are currently searching for an Operating Department Practitioner for a contract position within the UK?s Largest independent provider of assisted conception cycles. This is a fantastic opportunity within one of the leading providers of fertility treatments.

This is a contract position covering maternity and is for 30 hours per week. Our client is offering competitive salary alongside the opportunity to work in this exciting field.

Key Duties
?To undertake scrub, circulating, anaesthetic and recovery duties as required.
?To prepare the room ensuring correct instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
?Check the resuscitation equipment alongside the duty anaesthetist.
?Ensure cost effective use of resources. Under the supervision of the team leader, be responsible when required for the ordering, storage and use of consumables.
?To adhere to the Health Professions Council Code of Professional Conduct at all times.
?Deliver effective patient care in accordance with recognised standards of research based clinical practice. Reflect on clinical practice in order to evaluate and maintain high standards of patient care.
?Contribute to the teaching and supervision of learners and unqualified staff within the team, adhering to the established competencies in the nursing team. Act as a mentor to new staff and learners in the department.
?Take full responsibility for the administration of medicines and treatments as prescribed in accordance with agreed protocols, local policies and procedures.
?Maintain a safe and healthy working environment, complying with the units Health & Safety policies.
?Ensure safe practice in the use of equipment complying with local policies. Ensure equipment is left in good order, reporting any faults or hazards.
?Co-ordinate the procedure room in the absence of the team leader.
?Ensure patient records and all procedure room documentation are maintained in line with professional standards and local policies.
?Ensure rights, dignity, privacy and confidentiality of the patients is protected to comply with national standards and guidelines, acting as the patients advocate as appropriate.
?Demonstrate awareness of professional boundaries and limitations.
?Participate in decision-making contributing to the implementation of change, displaying a flexible approach.
?Supervise qualified and unqualified staff and students while working in the procedure room.
?Be aware of the principles of risk management in relation to the department.
?Ensure all untoward incidents, complaints and grievances are recorded and reported in line with CARE policies.
?Communicate effectively with all staff, patient?s relatives involved in the care of the patient.
?Liaise with other departments as necessary for the co-ordination of patient care and the smooth running of the department.
