QA Analyst:
Hands-on Quality Assurance engineer role with a primary focus on the testing of Service Assurance solutions. This individual will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, validate, verify, communicate, and document systems/software application defects through manual system and integration testing. This resource should be able to develop test cases and perform test case execution in a technical environment. The individual must be able to exercise significant independent judgment within defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing related work and achieving objectives.

Job responsibilities include the following:

  • Leverage a strong understanding of Service Assurance systems including managing events and alarms from complex infrastructures.
  • Design and execute re-usable test cases/test scripts using industry standard tools (HP/Mercury Quality Center and QTP.)
  • Design test cases that satisfy inventory and monitoring testing requirements.
  • Develop functional, integration and regression testing solutions.
  • Track defects and related repairs using Quality Center.
  • Partner with non-QA groups to ensure appropriate testing environment is set-up and results are documented.
  • Produce reports and documentation for testing efforts, results, activities, data, logging and tracking.
  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure maximum testing coverage is obtained.
  • Frequently communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to team members and management.

Job Related Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of working in the Service Assurance discipline
  • Prefer 2+ years experience with functional testing network discovery systems, inventory systems, and monitoring suites.
  • Experience working with alarm correlations, de-correlations, monitoring thresholds, and trending within a monitoring suite.
  • Minimum 3 years of solid testing experience in a technical operational environment including developing and executing technical test cases.
  • Proficiency using the Tivoli NetCool Monitoring Suite; experience with Inventory Management System and/or Topology Discovery tools area plus.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of software testing solution.

Functional Area Skills/Knowledge:

  • Understanding of Enterprise Integration Platforms such as an Enterprise Service Bus.
  • A solid understanding of complex networks and monitoring integration.
  • Demonstrated aptitude to learn complex technical aspects of a software application.
  • Knowledge of system testing and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies a plus.
  • Skills in research, analysis, solution validation, and software implementation.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new environments.
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem solving skills.
  • Self-directed with a high degree of initiative, ability to perform with minimal oversight and the ability to understand complex applications.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a group environment to achieve common goals; ability to build and maintain effective working relationships;
  • Excellent communication skills (written, reading comprehension, listening, verbal) required.
