Overall Profile

Purpose:

The primary responsibilities of this function are

  • To maintain server operating systems and services;
  • To provide 2nd IT level assistance for hardware and software issues;
  • To assist in the daily user administration and system administration;
  • To act as dedicated support resource for the Practice Support department;
  • To function as interface between the 1st and 2nd line support teams
  • Maintain the network structure, security & accesses, file shares and physical infrastructure
  • Ensure appropriate retention and backup of data stored on the network, including archival of data
  • Ensure security of network against eg, viruses, security breaches
  • Be responsible for the updates on the server and end user infrastructure, eg, MS patches, critical updates
  • Test and verify updates and new application packages
  • Define and document support procedures regarding all network software, hardware and configurations
  • Assist the 3rd line team for rollouts and upgrades of network infrastructure, operating systems, Servers and storage devices

Skills and Competencies

  • Fluent in English, and good knowledge of French or Dutch
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal, including telephone skills)
  • Strong presentation skills (written and verbal)
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft operating systems (server and PC), server hardware, network storage maintenance (NetApp), virtual infrastructure maintenance (VMWare) and network backup programs; comfortable knowledge of Lotus Notes administration and Microsoft Exchange
  • Experience with phone systems and administration
  • Ability to take a structured approach to problem solving and decision making by analysing, thinking ahead and planning
  • Pro-active approach to work

  • Professional ethic and manner - must demonstrate the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of the Firm's internal and personnel affairs
  • Flexible to work a reasonable amount of overtime

i. To accommodate evening cover up to 8 PM (primarily), and/or morning and holiday cover, and
ii. To provide assistance with special projects or the general needs of the office (can take place over week-ends)
