Our client is currently looking for a Senior Level SQL Server DBA to join their team on a Full time basis. The chosen resource will be responsible for maintaining and proactively managing performance, growth, security, and integrity of multiple SQL Server based applications in both a development and production environment. Work with the DBA team to manage performance, growth, security, and integrity of multiple Oracle based applications. Participate in or lead teams during changes in the life cycle of the environments for such events as upgrades, new development, and implementation of new products. Work with the application providers or development teams for both existing and future applications. Provide and maintain documentation for all database functions. Mentor DBA team on SQL Server tool set.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for data integrity on all SQL Server databases.
- Responsible for developing and executing data migration between development, test, and production environments.
- Responsible for backup/restore procedures.
- Responsible for performance tuning of databases.
- Responsible for regular maintenance of production, test, and development databases.
- Perform upgrades and patches to database engine.
- Work with development staff on new database designs.
- Responsible for application required uptime of database engines.
- Testing of operating system upgrades with database engine.
- Work with developers to troubleshoot application problems.
- Responsible for resolving issues with vendor support group.
- Act as backup for Oracle DBAs.
Education/Experience:
- 4 year degree or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of 3 years experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and/or 2008.
- Experience with large scale database design and implementation
- Experience in maintaining and monitoring a production environment
- Participation in full life cycle development including design, development, documentation, training, and on-going support.
- Microsoft SQL Server Professional Certifications are a plus
- A minimum 2 years experience with Oracle 11g is a plus
