If given a  blank piece of paper in addition to the client's current state, must be able to draw and design the current network and potentially any upgrades.
Responsible for the strategy, design, service life cycle, pilot and enforcement of infrastructure standards within a global enterprise level organization. This role will ensure that current and future technologies are seamlessly integrated into the current infrastructure, with minimal impact to the business, whilst exceeding the system availability targets.
This role will provide the integration point with the current operational teams and ensure that technology is understood and maintained to the appropriate published standards.
Responsible to the business for dynamically translating business and customer requirements into a standards based scalable infrastructure and presenting the solution back to the business units, including the details of expected availability, costs and timescales to implement
Responsible for the infrastructure strategy for all components within the business today. Through research and experience, will define the strategy on a 3 year rolling approach for the Infrastructure department to ensure all components  are supported and agreed within the organization.
Implementation lead for new global infrastructure technologies and major changes to the current infrastructure, leading to a documented environment that is standardised and supportable. Define and publish the key performance indicators for technology, which will ensure the infrastructure is fit for purpose and continues to be standardised or improved in conjunction with the other responsible Infrastructure teams.
Manage suppliers and ensure selected products meet the requirements from both a technology integration and cost perspective, to ensure that systems availability targets are exceeded and the cost of services is well understood and published.
Responsible point of contact for 4th line escalation support within the global infrastructure team, delivering faster problem resolution with the operations teams and will give the  ability to identify weak points within the infrastructure that need to be re architected to improve system stability and uptime
Responsible for the companies technology security by constantly reviewing and recommending changes to the infrastructure, while maintaining a fit for purpose best practice approach to security.
Accountable to the business to identify infrastructure risks and create plans to ensure security, availability, reliability, and serviceability. Responsible for constantly researching, assessing and communicating emerging technologies from our global supplier base that would be of business benefit, this will ensure that the company is aware of potential technology that our competitors may also use, to stay ahead of our competitors
Will be working with Senior VP and Director level staff including to ensure Infrastructure projects comply with technology standards and that projects are able to be delivered on time and on budget.  This position also works with operations teams to review existing solutions and provide designs to promote continuous improvement and systems availability improvements.

Required skills:

Minimum of 7+ years of experience in infrastructure solutions design
MUST be able to perform a review, current state assessment and full documentation of existing system.
5 years of experience and knowledge of infrastructure architecture and operations within major global businesses
5 years experience of working within a global enterprise environment
Strong understanding of the costs associated within the enterprise infrastructure environment
5 years experience in managing the life cycle of at least two of the following infrastructure architectures;
o Networking
o Security
o Server
o Unix
o Microsoft
o Database
o Storage
o End user workplace
Video and Voice
5 years' experience of providing solutions to meet systems availability targets
Strong technical writing skills.
Strong supplier management to understand cost and solution proposals
Strong interpersonal, communication, and client-facing skills.
Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts to both an IS&S and business audience.
Strong verbal and written communication in English language
Ability to understand the supplier technology sales processes
Excellent written and verbal English
Must be able to perform limited international and domestic travel (no more than 6 short trips per year)

Desired skills:
3 years' in performance tuning, capacity management, and enterprise monitoring.
3 years'  in problem & performance diagnosis.
3 years'  in performance tuning, capacity management, consolidation, load balancing technology, virtualization and enterprise monitoring.
3 years'  of operational support
Excellent research skills, ability to leverage available tools such as subscription services, trade press, Internet or other online services
Strong project management skills and experience.
Well versed with business processes.
ITIL foundation certification strongly preferred
Ability to manage stress well under difficult situations and when dealing with production issues and project deadlines
Experience of working in an outsourced environment
Fluent in a 2nd language is a strong plus!
