Halian are currently at the beginning of a titanic service delivery for our omnipresent partner which are the prime vendor for a major Healthcare vision which is flooding throughout the Middle East.
Our Universal Partner has recently won a huge bid on a technology leading and ground-breaking programme in Doha Qatar. This admirable programme is otherwise known as a Medical and Research Centre which is to be a state-of-the-art, Greenfield, all-digital, medical centre.
Oracle database administrator with a minimum of 7 years experience as a DBA in an operational environment. Must possess both excellent technical and customer-facing skills. Experience working in an outsourcing environment with ITIL service management processes a plus.
Responsibilities
- Work with Application venders to build and configure application databases (Collect and document application requirements, Build databases per requirements, provide testing and troubleshooting support to Application teams).
- Install, configure, upgrade, and manage Oracle RDBMS 10gR2, 11g, 11gR2
- Configure and manage database maintenance, including backups, reorgs, update statistics, and any additional required maintenance
- Apply Oracle-related patches
- Manage Oracle clusters as well as environments containing replication
- Provide system administration staff with requirements for Oracle host machines
- Participate in an on-call rotation as part of a global leveraged team
- Represent database administration team in operations as well as project activities

- Oracle 10gR2, 11gR1 and 11gR2 physical DBA activities (Installation, patching, Configuring, Backup and Recovery, Performance tuning, troubleshooting problems)
- Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11gR2 and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) (Installation, patching, Configuring, Troubleshooting problems)
- Oracle Automatic Storage Management 11gR2 (ASM) (Installation, patching, Configuring, Troubleshooting problems, Administration)
- Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid control 11g (Installation, patching, Configuring, Troubleshooting problems, Administration)
- Oracle Standby and Data Guard 11gR2 (Configuration and Administration)
- Previous 2 implementations of Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11gR2 and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
- Experience working with application vendors and support teams to implement new applications.
- Be able to document application database build requirements and configuration.
- Unix fundamentals and Shell Scripting
- Application/logical DBA and PL/SQL tuning experience (a plus)
- ITIL Foundation or related training (a plus)
