The Medicaid Policy Analyst will identify policy related items in the MMIS and will work with stakeholders in developing appropriate ICD-10 policies.

Primary duties:

  • Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives
  • Provides subject matter expertise in response to day to day business issues, researches applicable subject matter practices and remains aware of industry trends
  • Excercises independent judgement within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution
  • Works on problems/projects of diverse complexity and scope and able to handle most unique situations
  • May act as team leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision-making process

Requirement include:

  • Demonstrated understanding of ICD-9 and ICD-10
  • Three years of current experience working with a state Medicaid program
  • Experience in at least one key area impacted by ICD-10: claims, provider contracting/reimbursement or care management
  • Demonstrated ability to fluently describe Medicaid policy and processes
  • Prefer candidate certified by the American Academy of Professional Coders or the Board of Advanced Medical Coding OR relevant Bachelor's degree or relevant licensure (LPN, RN, RHIA, RHIT)
