IT Disaster Recovery Consultant (DR)

Our client requires a Disaster Recovery Consultant who will be responsible for designing, procuring and implementing IT Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities to meet business continuity requirements and the agreed business Recovery Time, Point and Capacity Objectives (RTO/RPO/RCO). This role will include the development of technology DR planning and testing strategies and tools, validation of business unit requirements and the oversight of DR plan and platform build. The successful candidate will work very closely with staff developing business continuity requirements associated with applications, infrastructure and operational functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop IT DR requirements in accordance with defined business continuity requirements.
  • Identify potential solutions that meet the IT DR requirements.
  • Present options that meet IT DR requirements.
  • Research and development of the business case for recommended IT DR approach and model.
  • Support the procurement of the service.
  • Deliver the technology component of DR to meet the business continuity requirements on time and on budget.
  • Develop high level project plans and time lines for implementation and operational execution.
  • Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones and required tasks.
  • Design DR framework to include standards, templates, maintenance, and change control processes.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert of all IT DR plans.
  • Provide support, training, and transfer of knowledge to all relevant Business Services staff.

Required Skills:

  • Significant knowledge and experience in IT Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity and successfully delivering an IT DR framework.
  • Experience of procuring an IT DR framework.
  • Good appreciation of services levels, SLA's and KPI's.
  • Capable of developing and maintaining communications and relations with stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact professionally.
  • Experience of working within a Matrix style structure.
  • Project management and control functions.
  • Competent in presentation techniques.
  • Competent in risk management.

The key relevant skill is the ability to work in a structured manner - PRINCE, in a client facing environment
