Overview:

Our client, a top Financial Services institution in the City, is seeking a Treasury Business Controller to join their team on a temporary 6 month contract.

The Role:

A qualified accountant with at least three years of experience is required. This role provides the opportunity to work closely with the Planning and Business Analysis team for Front Office areas and International Treasuries.
The role requires an individual who can work well within a team, with excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

*Providing month and year to date commentary on performance against forecast and prior year. This involves liaising with other members of the Treasury Business Control team to collate commentaries.
*Building strong relationships with Front Office areas supported by Treasury Business Control team.
*Preparation of cost forecasts and medium term plans for Front Office areas supported by Treasury Business Control team. Work with the business areas to manage the process during forecasting periods, to achieve targets and deadlines.
*Providing commentaries on balance sheet moves for the business areas supported by Treasury Business Control team. This part of the role in particular requires good working relationships to be established with the Front Office.
*Development of additional reporting and analysis as required eg developing processes to better understand the daily P+L and relationship with balance sheet.
*Challenging income forecasts Front Office areas supported by Treasury Business Control team.
*Being the contact point for Planning and Analysis Finance team on queries relating to Front Office areas supported.

Essential Experience/Skills:

*Professional Accountancy qualification with up to date knowledge of IFRS beneficial.
*Strong analytical and problem solving skills - the ability to quickly understand complex issues, work to resolving the issue (escalating if appropriate) and conclude (documenting all stages of process appropriately)
*Strong Microsoft Access and Excel (macro level at least) to enable set up of new EUC tools efficiently. Knowledge of SAP and/or ESSBASE would be useful but not essential.
*Good financial products knowledge, possibly gained through previous role in product control or financial reporting for an area trading a range of treasury products (including but not limited to Interest rate swaps, Forward rate agreements, futures, commercial paper, certificates of deposit).
*An understanding of market risk reporting eg Value at Risk would be an advantage
