Information Architect (Visual Designer)
6 Month Contract based in Dublin, Ireland
per day

Possibility to extend contract beyond initial 6mth period.

Our client is the Software Solutions centre of a major International company with a global brand.
Their operation in Dublin is growing from strength-to-strength and they are now looking to appoint an Information Architect (Visual Designer) to their Dublin team.

The IA will become part of an International Software Development Team split across based here in Dublin and will work on a number of key design projects (Websites and Web Applications etc).
The IA will work within a sub-team that provides user research, information architecture, visual design, prototyping and user testing services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Information Architect will be tasked with working with business sponsors, project managers, project analysts & development partners to clarify/refine project goals, user goals, target audience & project metrics, including:
  • Conduct or participate in stakeholder workshops
  • Conduct user research & gather user input with the assistance of usability specialists and business sponsors.
  • Create personae's, user profiles & user scenario's
  • Undertake competitive analysis.
  • Define site structure & create site maps/flow diagrams.
  • Produce wireframe designs & lo-fidelity prototypes.
  • Working with Visual Designer to create final visual designs & prototypers to create mock ups.
  • Working with development partners to ensure technical feasibility of design solutions.
  • Work with usability specialists to organize usability testing.
  • Ensure design resources (Design, Prototyping, Usability, and Editorial) understand their role on a project & that their individual tasks are coordinated & carried out in a timely fashion.
  • Expected to design solutions for Web pages as well as Desktop applications.
  • Mentor junior information architects and review their work.
  • Be accountable for UI deliverables and meeting project deadlines.
  • Present designs to project team.
Visual Designer Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Information Architect & business partners to understand business & user goals, user scenarios & determine how to resolve these goals visually.
  • Produce multiple design concepts as needed.
  • Assess the kinds of graphical design, page components, page templates & illustrations required for a given project.
  • Produce visuals & specifications to illustrate the approved design.
  • Work & communicate with other designers to document & contribute to the style guide, best practices & insure consistent look & feel to all projects.
  • Review development progress to insure final production is executed in accordance with style guide & approved design.
  • Mentor & supervise junior visual designers.
  • Review designs produced by junior visual designers
Key Deliverables:
  • Design team estimates.
  • User personae.
  • User scenarios, and where appropriate use cases.
  • Site map and/or screen flow diagrams.
  • Prototypes.
  • Development Handoff Inventory listing all design components delivered to development.
  • Visual concepts.
  • Final designs & specifications.
  • Style guide documentation for standardization.
Required Experienced and Professional Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred.
  • 6+ years experience in Information Architecture & Design Project Management.
  • MS Visio, Axure, Balsamiq.
  • Dreamweaver, Photoshop/Fireworks.
  • Knowledge of usability issues relative to current web/application practices.
  • Knowledge of design principles and standards (including accessibility).
  • Photoshop/Fireworks/Illustrator.
  • Flash
  • Knowledge of HTML & CSS
  • Design experience for mobile devises an advantage
  • Portfolio should reflect strength in interactive design, illustration, Flash animation and icon development
This is an excellent contract/assignment opportunity that will more than likely extend beyond the initial 6 month period.
