Title: UNIX Systems Administrator
Location: Onsite in Kingston, NY
Type: Contract
Duration: 6 months
Work Hours: Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm
Our client, a leading financial institution, seeks a UNIX Systems Administrator.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Routine system administration and moderately complex system engineering in a Solaris 10 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5x environment.
- Primary subject matter expert for DNS and SMTP implementation and upkeep.
- Experience compiling, porting, and supporting FOSS software in Solaris and Red Hat Linux Participates in design, development and implementation of systems engineering activities, to include OS and hardware technical support.
- Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource; provides tech knowledge and capabilities as team member and individual contributor.
- Will not have direct reports but will influence and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations.
Must have Skills: (Candidates must have these skills to be considered.)
- UNIX Solaris v.9 or v.10.
- Solaris patching methodology Live Upgrade.
- Building Solaris customized patch depots.
- Kernel Tuning.
- DNS (BIND).
- SMTP (Sendmail).
- EMC SAN storage.
- Documentation skills.
Nice to Have Skills: (These are pluses but NOT needed.)
- Dtrace (Solaris Performance Analytical Tool).
- ISP.
- Linux Red Hat.
- NetBackup.
- Quest Authentication.
- Kickstart.
- RPM builds.
Experience Level:
- 6+ years of UNIX Systems Administration.
- 6+ years of Solaris Systems Administration.
