Title: Senior Java Developer
Location: Charlotte, NC
Type: Contract
Duration: 6 months

Our client, a leading financial services provider, is seeking Sr. Java Developer for its Charlotte, NC location. The position will encompass a range of tasks within a development team.
The position will be responsible for:
Design and development of highly scalable Java based components and applications Development and execution of test cases.
Support and enhancement of existing Java based components and applications.
Participate in planning, design reviews and provide input to the design recommendations.

Required Skills:
A minimum of 7 years Java development experience.
Strong knowledge of the Java platform, including J2EE, EJB, JSP, JDBC and JMS.
Strong knowledge of XML, SOAP, WSDL and Web services.
Strong understanding of transaction-oriented, distributed systems and concurrency issues.
Experience with Object-Oriented design and development.
Strong knowledge in SQL (both DDL and DML).
Strong working knowledge of relational databases preferably Oracle.
Experience in Software Development Life Cycle methodologies, especially Agile/XP methodologies.
Testing, debugging and problem-determination skills.
Use of Software Configuration Management (SCM) tools to manage code and other artifacts.
Knowledge of best practices regarding SCM branching and labeling, builds and scripted deploys.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
Good communication ability, analytical skills and a highly professional attitude are essential, as there will be business contact with end-users.
Be proactive, a problem solver and be able to work with minimum supervision when given a goal.

Desired Skills:
Experience with Risk Systems and Financial Instruments (Mortgages, Whole Loans, Derivatives, Bonds, etc).
Experience with data modelling tools such as Erwin or ER Studio.
Experience with large MPP platforms such as Neteeza, Vertica, Hadoop, or Teradata.
Working experience with Linux, Ant, Maven.
Proficiency with Unix Scripting languages, such as Shell, Perl or Python.
Experience with data visualization and reporting.
An understanding of statistics.
