Job Specification:

Mechanical/Piping Designer - Petrochemical - 12 Month Contract - North West

Role Purpose
To provide engineering designs, maintain site records and provide support for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the chemical process plant.

Reporting Summary:

Reporting to the UK Manager, Design & documentation.

Key Accountabilities:

To design small projects and plant modifications including: - plant layouts, engineering flow diagrams, piping general arrangements and isometric drawings.
To survey and measure existing plant.
Liaise and support site engineers.
To work accurately and effectively meeting given deadlines.
Maintain site records and drawings.
Check other draughtspersons and contractors drawings to assist section leader.
To work safely to safeguard themselves and colleagues in the workplace.

Skills, Knowledge Experience

Essential

Detailed knowledge of high pressure/temperature piping systems designed in accordance with ASME codes.
Analytical and problem solving skills
Computer skills Autocad,

Desirable

Appreciation of:-
ASME pressure vessel Codes. PD5500 pressure vessel code.
Mechanical handlings systems such as conveyors and elevators.

Experience of Cadworx 3D draughting software.

Computer skills Word, Excel.

Personal Attributes
Self motivated
A natural communicator
Able to work in a team.
Physically fit able to climb vertical ladders and work off scaffold platforms.

Qualifications or Functional Experience

HNC In Mechanical Engineering
An appreciation of large scale petrochemical processes.
