Description
We have an IMMEDIATE need for a Solutions Architect! This is a contract position located in the Boston, MA locale.
DUTIES:
1. Identify architectural standards and product direction during product development.
2. Lead product life cycle development from requirements determination to design and development to testing and support.
3. Support application architecture assessment and prepare recommendations for improvements.
4. Promote shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flows, and ensure that projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from business and IT strategies.
5. Manage risks associated with information and IT assets through appropriate standards and security policies.
6. Perform detailed modelling of application architecture components using UML, working closely with the technical architecture team in delivering an overall integration architecture.
REQUIRED:
1. 5+ years of related experience in application development.
2. Knowledge of distributed, heterogeneous (Windows, UNIX, etc) scalable systems design.
3. Knowledge of Internet, Intranet, and Extranet systems design (security, content management, eCommerce, web, and application Servers).
4. Knowledge of high availability/fault-tolerant systems design and transparent application fail-over.
5. Knowledge of relational and spatial database design, logical and physical system architecture, and object-oriented analysis and design.
6. Knowledge of replication, backup, and disaster recovery design.
7. Knowledge of system sizing, capacity planning and performance tuning, and storage and area network architecture.
8. Knowledge of SOA concepts and related frameworks.
EDUCATION:
BA/BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
