The Network Engineer will be responsible for the technical design, integration, and support of the Navigator network initiatives involving various hardware and software technologies in the Networking Group within the Division of Information Technology. The Network Engineer will be the Subject Matter Expert on networking design and integration functions as they relate to the Navigator OSPF switched Network, and will also function as the back-up support for all engineering positions within the Networking Group. Additionally, this position will ensure that all networking projects and initiatives are performed in accordance with Nielsen Media Research INFOSEC policies and procedures.

The Network Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Defining, documenting, configuring and maintaining the Navigator networking environment; Working with other GDOT Networking Engineers in designing, testing and implementing high-availability, production-ready, network solutions for both internal and external customers; Working with other client Networking and Telecommunications Engineering personnel in establishing operational processes and procedures for networking, including remote access and wireless services, OSPF Routing, Multicasting video streaming, Working with client Networking Engineers along with client/customer Engineers, on other projects as deemed necessary; Ensuring that networking SLA's are consistently met; Working with contractors, vendors, client/customer Engineers and other client Engineers on large-scale network infrastructure projects; Recommending enhancements to existing networking systems and infrastructure.

Major responsibilities include;

  • Checkpoint/Nokia Firewall implementations
  • Guiding efforts and participating in design implementation of Multicasting Mpeg 2 & 4 streaming video over a Cisco and Nortel switched environment
  • Design and Implement OSPF fully meshed switched environments using multi brand Switches, Routers and VPN concentrators
  • Configure and deploy Cisco VoIP services
  • Configure and test new Routers, Switches, Video Incoders/Decoders VPN devices and/or Firewalls
  • Modify existing equipment configurations
  • Troubleshoot switched VLANed environments with multiple routing protocals
  • Verify connectivity
  • Troubleshoot Routers and routing protocols
  • Review project tasks and turn around dates
  • Documentation skills
  • Performs detailed analysis of system requirements to determine needs
  • Provides daily updates and weekly status reports

Other responsibilities include:

  • Recommends short-term alternatives when appropriate
  • Tracks current and future inventory levels
  • Provides Tier 2/3 support

Successful candidates should have a solid understanding of hardware and software network configuration and experience interacting with people at a variety of levels. The position requires demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts. We are looking for someone who has a good mix of technology interaction skills and hands-on technical ability.

Six (6) years experience with Cisco Routers and Switches, specifically Cisco 6500, 3750, 3560 Switches, Cisco 3800, 2900, 1900 and 1800 Routers and ASA5500, security appliance in an enterprise environment; A Multicast switched environment over multi brand Switches. OSPF routed switched network

Three (3) years experience with Checkpoint Firewall and Nokia appliances or a equivalent manufactured Firewall.

Experience with Cisco VoIP Telephony products

CCNP certification (must include certification number in contents of Resume)
