Our worldwide headquarters here in Huddersfield - which houses extensive design, manufacturing, test facilities and aftermarket - forms the centrepiece of our international engineering expertise and right now we're looking to add to an already talented Global Commodity team.

As a Global Commodity Leader, you'll be a key member of a dedicated unit engaged in developing and maintaining a totally cost effective global supply base for our Aftermarket division.

Specifically this will involve:

Developing and maintaining a world-wide supply base of competitive and innovative companies, fostering and developing a Suppliers as Partners' philosophy to select, develop and manage suppliers.
Managing opportunities within the Supply Chain to achieve best practices, including written agreements, cross functional improvement teams, work flow improvements, concurrent engineering, full service suppliers, supplier evaluations, customer/supplier relationships, training & education, supply base consolidation.
Developing, managing and implementing Global commodity strategies
Developing and maintaining supplier management through cost, quality, delivery/capacity, technical, attitude and administration.
Drive Total Cost reductions across the entire supply chain in managing cost-out opportunities.
Primary contact for supplier negotiations and contracts.
Develops 'Commodity Teams' throughout the Supply Chain, co-ordinates the linkage between the supplier and the Plant in driving improvement in Materials.
Develops and maintains effective links with the manufacturing facility in order to ensure improvement objectives within the materials function are achieved.
Be a resource for Supplier and Plant training.
Develop a Tooling replacement and maintenance strategy.

Qualified to degree or equivalent level in Purchasing or related subject, you should have previous experience in a manufacturing/engineering/aftermarket environment and be able to demonstrate:

Proven purchasing and negotiating skills.
Exposure to a global supplier base.
Ability to manage and analyse high volume parts numbers using spreadsheets and databases.
Project management/change management skills.
Experience of using Oracle would be an advantage.
Knowledge of quality processes, TS16949 and PPAP would be an advantage.
Strong interpersonal skills both verbal and written are essential.
This is a 12-18 month contract.
