A platform is being implemented in a number of projects with complex parallel testing phases.

GL Migration:
This project implements the new GL which will be fed from the current GL and all current downstream feeds are being migrated to be populated from the new platform GL.

Source System Conversion:
In the UK this consists of 6 tranches all migrating Front Office and Back Office systems from feeding the current GL to feed the new platorms GL. These tranches have overlapping testing cycles resulting in a complex Matrix of testing cycles.

The Senior Business Analyst will be part of a project team and will have the following responsibilities:

For data sourcing:
Develop relationships with Front Office and Back Office system teams
Analysis of Front Office trading and Back Office systems from a data sourcing perspective to ensure attribute coverage to drive accounting and data requirements.
Communicate and work with systems on business solutions.
Understand the business issues and data challenges within the business area.
Manage requirements across multiple asset classes.
Data sourcing functional design for processing the incoming data feeds.
This design to be in sufficient detail for the configuration of the mapping layer and the accounting rules engine.
Data mapping/translation from source system feeds (which will include XML and CSV formats) to FTP data structures.
Work closely with the business accounting rules team to understand the data and events that are required from data sourcing to drive the accounting process required.
Involved in testing and supporting subsequent project test phases.

For downstream feeds:
Analysis of downstream system feed requirements both from a data attribute perspective and functional behaviours.
Downstream extract functional design for producing the required feeds.
Carry out unit testing and support subsequent project test phases.
To achieve the above, the senior business analyst will be required to liaise and co-ordinate with the various up and downstream IT and Business teams.

Control
Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
Maintain Internal Control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
Be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with your role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE (in order of importance)
Including: technical knowledge, company/industry experience, IT knowledge (levels required), languages etc.
*Broad knowledge across one or more Global Markets products from a trade attribute and life cycle event perspective,
*Experience of working on financial control projects, ie Sub-ledgers/General Ledgers, Accounting Rules set-up
*Knowledge of trade flow from trade inception through to settlement through the various bank departments and applications.
*Must have at least 5 years experience in the financial services sector of which the last 3 years was in carrying out a project business analysis role.

Including: commercial orientation, customer drive, business development, analytical reasoning, management planning, decisiveness, leadership, teamwork, building and managing relationships, communication, drive and resilience, change orientation, technical knowledge etc
*Ability to not only carry out current state analysis but also to move on to production of functional design of new solutions.
*Able to work with business clients in terms of gathering requirements, walking them through possible solution designs, investigation of issues
*Team player
*Proven experience of Data Sourcing in a project role.
*Ability to research information and analyse data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations and courses of action
*Proven strategic thinker and decision maker
*Proven experience in solutions analysis environment with specialisation in business analysis
*Ability to work in fast-paced environment with proven ability to handle multiple projects at one time
*An excellent level of analysis experience and knowledge of structured techniques and Group standards
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE
*Previous experience of implementing an Accounting Rules Engine, Trading Sub-ledger or GL (revenue, not expenses) in a similar sized organisation.
*May previously have started off as an application developer which would help in understanding the technical implications of any functional designs that are produced or Accountancy Qualification (ACCA or CIMA)
*May previously have worked on finance line but moved into IT projects.
*SQL - MS Access and Oracle
*Visio
*Strong Interpersonal skills
*Familiarity with PeopleSoft Screens
