Description
The Software Engineer in Test is a Developer or Quality Assurance professional with a focus on test automation and tool development. The engineer strives to understand how to test features in the most efficient and accurate manner possible using his knowledge of C# and testing frameworks to deliver a high quality product in a short time frame.
Required Skills
Understanding of basic Quality Assurance principles related to software development.
Ability to write/edit/maintain test scripts in C#, C++ or Java that are reliable and re-usable with minimal maintenance.
Strong desire to automate testing activities using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, Selenium, or proprietary tools centered around C#, C++ and/or JavaScript.
Understand basic components of C# .NET web or C++ products and ability to drive to root cause.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a dynamic team environment.
Ability to point out not only problems but bring solutions to processes and test approaches.
Intermediate understanding of ALL windows operating systems WinXP/2K3 and later
Basic networking concepts (domain vs workgroup, SSL and Proxy configuration, TCP/IP, DNS).
Understanding of Linux, UNIX or Mac OS operating systems is a plus but not required
Experience with using virtual environments, preferably VMware (Server, Workstation or Lab Manager).
Contributing to the documentation of articles/technical notes for the products knowledge base.
XML and MS SQL experience a plus.
Required Experience
4 year degree in a Computer Science related field with at least 2 years of experience in a software development/QA environment OR similar combination of education/work experience.
At least 6 months experience creating automation tests (Unit, non-functional or functional) that require script generation instead of point and click recorded automation. Test Driven Development may be substituted for automation testing experience.
