System Engineering Specialist - IT OPS
Job Description:
Our client requires a System Engineer to help our busy IT team in Dublin with current project deliveries as well as with on-going 3rd level user support
We need someone with more Linux exposure (in particular RHEL) and with good experience with virtualization technologies (Xen and/or KVM).
Responsibilities
- Operational Support of IT Systems including labs and engineering systems.
- 3rd level user support (DEV labs)
- Active contribution in infrastructure development projects
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Help other team members with various IT tasks
Required Skills & Experience:
- Expert Linux experience (specifically RHEL)
- Good knowledge of virtualisation techniques and hands-on experience with Xen and/or KVM hypervisors
- Experience with Open Source monitoring tools (Nagios, Centreon)
- Basic knowledge of storage technologies - SAN & NAS (NFS, iSCSI, FC )
- Basic DB administration & troubleshooting (MySQL)
- Scripting (Bash, Perl )
- TCP/IP Networking (routing, switching and load balancing concepts)
- Hardware maintenance and troubleshooting (Dell, HP)
- Good Documentation skills.
Desirable Skills
- A degree level computer science qualification is desirable
- Netapp Data Ontap experience
- Experience with Atlassian products (Confluence, JIRA, Bamboo)
- Cisco Router/switch knowledge (CCNA level or above)
- Certification (RHEL or Cisco) is desirable.
Experience: 3-5 years of overall experience with at least 3 years in Linux/Unix sysadmin role.
