Description
Independent Naval Subject Mater Expert (Production) wanted for an SC Cleared role based in Bristol. The contract is for a minimum of 12 months and the rate will be around £400 to £440 per day.
You will be giving advice and guidance to support the acceptance of engineering outputs. This person will work at the client site and will be directly tasked by the MoD Type 26 Team Leader in support of approving the design decisions, as specified within the Assessment Phase Design Management Arrangements. On occasions support at business meetings held offsite will be required. Due to the nature of Production Engineering, close co-operation will be required with Marine Engineering, Combat System and Naval Architecture Approval and Technical Authorities.
Activities To Be Undertaken
- Make the key programme decisions for MoD to enable them to take full ownership of the Assessment Phase outputs.
- Cost element/factor ownership responsible for the accuracy and tautness of their elements of the project costing.
- Ownership and approval on MoD behalf of Cost Element and Cost Factor values for Production, ensuring that the costing is taut and realistic and that all available efficiency opportunities are identified as opportunities or cost factors.
- Ownership, on MoD behalf, of Production risks and opportunities. Ensure that the client produces a comprehensive set of production risks and opportunities.
- Confirm that the most cost effective build strategy, plan facilities, schedule, design for build and processes are adopted by the clients and that the cost implications of adopting them are fully Embedded in the costing.
- Ensure that the client produce a build strategy to deliver the best value for money.
- Provide a comprehensive view of the build to which all plans, processes, investment justification can be linked.
- Incorporates global best warship build practice.
- Provides cost justification for each element.
- Ensure that the client identify the cost optimal investment in facilities, jigs and tools, plant etc for T26 Facilities Investment cases.
- Ensure that the Bill of Material Processes are fully cost optimised .
