Our large government client is currently seeking a suitably experienced and qualified Systems Technical Specialist beginning ASAP

This is a technical consulting position based in Canberra reporting to Oracle's Advanced Customer Services (ACS) delivery Manager. As a technical member of Oracle's ACS Delivery organisation, provide technical consulting for the successful delivery and implementation of complex, system solutions.
The position may have the technical reponsibility for developing architectures and detailed designs for a wide range of system solutions to meet defined customer requirements. It also requires hands-on involvement during system implementation to ensure that the appropriate level of technical oversight and compliance to design standards is met.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Develops and implements technical systems solutions and ensures that customer requirements are met and that the solution is deployed in accordance with Oracle's best practices;
- Has the responsibility for analysing customer requirements and recommending appropriate system design solutions;
- conducts system health checks, monitors system performance, implements upgrades and patches and may be assigned to the role of Proactive Support Engineer to major customers
- Works closely with customers; project and implementation teams to identify potential areas for technical improvements, system enchancements and discrete tranches of work that can be implemented to deliver defined business benefits for the customer
- Acts as a technical conduit into Oracles internal resources and support systems to assist in resolving complez technical problems;
Skills and Competencies:
- Minimum five years experience in a similar technical role;
- Sound technical skills and experience with a range of technologies including Solaris 10/11 OS, Sun Serviers and file systems, cluster software, system management tools, proprietary Switches and network hardware;
- Experience with virtualisation technologies, system consolidation and data centre system deployments;
- Sound knowledy of TCP/IP protocols
- Sound experience with storage and backup technologies (Tape libraries, SAN, NAS, RAID)
- Experience with Sun Servers (M5000 - M9000), tape storage product management software (ACSLS)
- Experience in developing complez systems integration prokects such as server consolidations, software upgrades, application mirgrations and network design
