A Global organisation supplying Business and Financial information, Financial Markets knowledge and Technology solutions seek an experienced Financial Accountant to join a Global division within their London offices.

Position Overview:
*We are looking for someone to join out Accounting Operations, Corporate business unit, Controllership UK team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave.
*The team looks after the management and statutory accounting for around 40 active UK entities in the Corporate SBU, comprising both operating companies and holding companies.
*The role will focus on delivering the 2011 statutory audits in line with local statue, improving the balance sheet control processes for the entities in scope and running the restructuring process for the group.
*You will work with a variety of customers and stakeholders in a global environment.

Duties to include:
*Delivery of the monthly management accounting activities for the organisation, ensuring completeness of actual costs recorded, working with Corporate Finance, Planning and Analysis teams to investigate variances to budget.
*Delivery of the monthly management accounting activities for other Corporate companies when required, ensuring completeness of actual costs recorded, working with Corporate Finance, as well as Planning and Analysis teams to investigate variances to budget.
*Provide the accounting steps, instructions and guidance on company restructuring activities.
*Review of global numbers to ensure that restructuring entries have been recorded correctly in the underlying accounting ledgers and resolving issues from a local and global perspective.
*Resolve current open items on the Balance sheet
*Evaluation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the Global Service team
*Assistance with preparation of local annual statutory accounts, liaising with both external auditors and the Accounting Operations-Compliance Controllership team
*Complete and post the statutory adjustments for the Corporate companies in the financial ledgers ensuring that both the group and local positions after the postings are correct.
*Participate in the functional review programmes
*Preparation of tax packs (for both quarterly Group reporting and annual statutory filings) and resolve queries from Corporate Tax department
*Assistance with ad hoc projects

Essential Skills
*Experience in management accounting, financial accounting and knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
*Some experience in Group consolidations or awareness of how group structure works
*Experience with integrated financial systems (SAP experience preferable)
*Understanding translation and transaction accounting
*Drive and self-motivation with the ability to work independently and deliver under pressure
*Fully qualified ACA, ACCA (or equivalent), or qualified through appropriate work experience
