Microsoft SQL Server, as well as the latest Microsoft Clustering, Replication, Reporting and Analysis Technology

The Sr. Database Administrator will administer, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company databases. Implement data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes; resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues.

  • Optimizes stored procedures and queries
  • Documents, updates and maintains database backup and recovery strategy
  • Administers database login accounts, groups and roles. Manages permissions of applications within SQL Server
  • Creates scripts for restoring security settings and each database
  • Install/Configures Database Server Software
  • Documents all Database Server software installations before moving to Production. Documents all changes made to Database Production Servers
  • Creates Database Maintenance and Automated Alerts
  • Evaluates and recommends tools to monitor Database Server Software
  • Chooses counters and conditions to monitor and creates Monitoring Templates for tools like Foglight, SQL Profiler and Perfmon
  • Defines the monitoring schedule and creates automated jobs for common monitoring tasks
  • Analyzes monitoring reports and looks for performance trends
  • Responds to system alerts and provides problem details to other staff
  • Key member of the disaster recovery team, documents, updates and maintains database recovery procedures for DR
  • Monitors SQL software license usage, reallocates unused license, requests additonal licenses when needed
  • Creates, optimizes, and monitors Database File Groups and transaction log files and placement
  • Requests additional storage space from Vmware/SAN and Network Infrastructure staff and recommends proper server sizing.
  • Other duties as assigned by the DBA Manager.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience with 7 or more years of experience in the field
  • Must be familiar with all versions of Microsoft SQL Server, as well as the latest Microsoft Clustering, Replication, Reporting and Analysis Technology

  • Participation in on call rotation with other DBA's
  • Ability to adapt to constantly changing requirements and proactively recommend and implement policies and procedures for efficient team functioning.
  • Meet the deliverables on time by effectively balancing the time spent on production support functions and the assigned enterprise level and internal projects.
