Job Description:

Our client, a leading provider of cable and telecom services, is seeking an Systems Administrator for its Charlotte, NC location!

Essential Job Functions:

Support the day to day operations and projects of a 1000+ Unix/Linux environment.

 This includes, but not limited to:

-Installation of software, monitoring, ticket resolution and troubleshooting.
-Refining, maintaining and enforcing disciplines around Unix Systems metrics and performance tracking, including weekly reporting for Systems (availability, uptime, utilization and performance).
-Be an active participant in the Operations Change Management process, planning and managing the implementation, communications, tracking and reporting activities around Unix Systems changes.
-Day to day operational activities for the Unix group, including Maintenance (firmware, patches, upgrades), Monitoring (OpenView tracking and reporting), Break/Fix(Tier III problem isolation, diagnosis and repair), Systems Administration and Install/Move/Add/Change activities in the Enterprise environment.
-User Login and password management (AD and Vintela Support).
-Support San Migrations and assist with SAN Upgrades.
-Provide support and reporting for Unix Systems corporate Audit (PCI/SOX/Internal) activities.
-Work with the Corporate Asset Manager to insure Unix assets are effectively logged, updated, tracked and reported on.
-Work with management as well as the Service Delivery and Infrastructure Consulting teams to plan and schedule execution of project related Unix Systems work (server validations, file system management and storage provisioning) on-time and on-budget.
-Coordinate Vendor activities in the context of services being delivered to and with the UNIX Systems Group.
-Work with R&D to provide input and pilot selected next generation Unix Systems and technologies.
-Interface with Network Services group on coordinating and successfully implementing large scale Unix deployments and problem resolution.
-Work with UNIX Design & Engineering Team to support host consolidations and migrations.
- Support Netbackup Team with upgrades and resolve Netbackup failures.

Required Skills:

-Technical knowledge and current expertise inSolaris (version 9 and higher), Red Hat Enterprise (AS4 and higher) and AIX (5xand higher) Administration.
-Experience with Veritas Cluster Server.
-Managing and facilitating closure of technical issues.
-Proficiency in Shell Scripting using Bourne,Korn Shell and C Shell.
-Proficiency inSSH, SCP and FTP.
-Excellent problem solving skills.
-Knowledge/use of a trouble ticketing system (Remedy a plus).
-Provide rotational on-call support.
