Our Client is seeking a Support Engineer for their Software Architect product family (with Java and either Java EE or C++) and join their Architecture Management team and to support industry leading software development tools.

Seeking the following:
- Strong team player but also a strong individual who can independently, and in a team, efficiently resolve client issues.
- Passion for troubleshooting and helping clients find workarounds for problems or issues they encounter with their tools
- Write accurate documentation of known issues and workarounds for internal and external publication.

Your daily job will involve the analysis of customer issues on a wide range of Modeling, Java, and C++ or Java EE technologies, using multiple Eclipse-based development environments. You will be troubleshooting the deployment to and debugging of application Servers such as IBM WebSphere Application Server and IBM WebSphere Portal Server.

You will deal with integrations with other products such as IBM Rational ClearCase or CVS or Rational Team Concert (and other Collaborative Lifecycle Management offerings) You will leverage the knowledge of a large technical community by collaborating with engineers from different business units to bring integration issues to timely resolution. You will manage critical situations with large customers and you will discuss complex problems with senior developers.

They are also seeking the following skills:
- Windows operating systems; experience as advanced user;
- UML (Unified Modeling Language) 2.2 hands-on knowledge;
- Object Oriented Languages (Java and possibly C++): you understand the customer code and you can detect coding errors and malpractices; you can write code samples to identify and simplify a specific customer problem;
- Java 5 and 6 knowledge, including new language features not present in Java 1.4;
- Eclipse: experience as advanced user (Platform, Debug, JDT (Java Development Tools) and possibly CDT (C++ Development Tools), DTP (Data Tools Project), BIRT);
- Client Server environments and protocols (HTTP,XML,SOAP,WSDL, REST);
- If your focus area is Java: J2EE 1.4, JEE 5 and 6 knowledge. You can write simple examples of code following some of these specifications: Servlet 2.4, 2.5, 3.0; JSP (Java Server Pages) 2.0, 2.1;

EJB (Enterprise Java Beans) 2.1, 3.0 and 3.1; JPA (Java Persistence Architecture) 1.0 and 2.0; Web Services (JAX-RPC; JAX-WS and JAX-RS); Web 2.0 (Dojo, Ajax); Java Server Faces 1.2 and 2.0., Portlet (JSR168, JSR286); Application Servers (such as Tomcat or WebSphere Application Server, or WebSphere Portal Server but also others are acceptable);

- If your focus area is C++: You can write/test code samples using various compilers and IDEs (Microsoft Visual Studio 6; Microsoft Visual Studio .NET ; gcc; but also others are acceptable);
- Team work is Embedded in your character;
- Passion for problem solving;
- Excellent communication skills are essential;
- Fluency in English and another European language among: French, German, Spanish, Italian (in order of preference) at native level. Dutch is not required.

It would be really nice if you also had some of these skills:
- Experience writing plug-ins for Eclipse;
- Unix/Linux knowledge (Suse; Red Hat);
- Configuration Management tools (CVS; Rational ClearCase; Rational Team Concert) and concepts;
- Requirement Management tools;
- BPMN (Business process Modeling Notation);
- C# Language;
- C Language;
- Real Time Operating Systems;
