9 month plus contract for a Smart Grid RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) Configuration Engineer. 5-6 years experience. Utility or Energy industry experience needed.

Duties include:

  • Interpret the Oneline for each substation to distinguish points of interest to Transmission versus Distribution
  • Prepare the Point Assignment Sheets (PAS) for each RTU (Transmission & Distribution)
  • Prepare the RTU Configurations for each RTU (Transmission & Distribution)
  • Participate in peer reviews of PAS and RTU configurations
  • Perform a lab Test by downloading the RTU Configuration on lab equipment and using a test set to prove functionality
  • Troubleshoot minor technical issues with deployment of RTUs. Interface with RTU vendor as well as field technicians over the phone.

Skills needed:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate understanding of substation onelines
  • Intermediate knowledge of Protocol Test Suite such as ASE2000 Test Set
  • Intermediate knowledge of DNP3, TCP/IP, RS232, RS485 protocols

BS or AAS Degree in Electrical Engineering
