Principal Quality Assurance Engineer/Test Team Lead needed for a PERMANENT position that starts with a 3 to 6 month contract and then converts to become permanent for a major software company having a facility in the Cary, NC area. The Principal Quality Assurance Engineer provides both hands on and leadership in analysis and verification for commercially sold Software as a Service software product ensuring that development meets the stated requirements and validate that the product functions as intended. Will design, build, and execute functional and customer use case focused tests that verify the accuracy and reliability ensuring products meet stated requirements. Will develop the use of metrics, data and fact to measure quality and refine testing. Will define the testing environment including processes, automation, and tools. Responsibilities include:

  • Automating Tests
  • Develop customer focused test plans.
  • Set-up and maintain testing environments.
  • Perform test cases and maintain associated test records.
  • Develop and utilize automated test scripts to perform duties.
  • Record issues into a defect-tracking system.
  • Follow-up and close issues entered into the defect-tracking system.
  • Provide information to technical documentation (ie Product Release Notes/Readme files).
  • Review product documentation (manuals/Getting Started Guides) for technical accuracy.
  • Participate in the design spec reviews to understand design, contribute quality requirements and ensure testability.
  • Develop high level test plans for products from which lower level test plans can be defined and assigned to others for development.
  • Communicate with cross functional program teams as part of a shared responsibility for total product quality.
  • Assist developers, architects, and support services in researching or solving complex application issues.
  • Mentor, train, develop and serve as a knowledge resource to less experienced QA engineers.

Required skills/experience:

  • Developeing Test Automation
  • Database Validation experience.
  • SQL including creating Joins.
  • Web Application Testing.

During the face to face interview you will be asked to write some test automation scripts, what test automation Scripting language will you use during the interview?

Occasional US travel (less than 10%) may be required. Must be able to start in Cary, NC immediately or within 2 weeks notice. Pass a criminal background check and drug test.
