IPTV Network Engineer Urgently Required
A new opportunity has become available for an experienced IPTV network engineer to work for one of our prestigious clients in Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will provide the technical expertise to design, develop, and support our client IPTV networkenvironment. An environment that consists of multi-vendor Set Top Boxes(STBs) at the customer ends, and streamers and Servers (VOD, IPTV, EPG,Middle-ware, etc) at the head-end, that support this IPTV system.
Qualifications and Responsibilities:
* A bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electricalv Engineering or equivalent.
* Deep understanding of IPTV Technologies and Network Environments
* Multicast, eBGP, iBGP, and MPLS routing protocols - Required
*Cisco network engineering (routing and switching) experience
* Review current IPTV environment, product requirements, and determine gaps.
* Design an IPTV network with MPEG/IP/encoders, Switches, Routers, Middleware server & IP set top boxes.
* Work with vendors to order required hardware and software. Install all hardware and software associated with new IPTV equipment.
*Configure Servers, STBs, network components for development and test groups.
*Maintain development set top box inventory including GUIDs, user account information, switch port, and VLAN information.
*Knowledge of DVR and non DVR Set Top Boxes
*Solid understanding of On Demand Content Delivery (SS, live VOD),VHO and SHO.
*Communicate with vendors regarding updates/patches and deployment of updates/patches.
*Communicate with production engineers keeping the development environment consistent with production while anticipating future upgrades and changes.
*Knowledge of multi-vendor middle ware softwares such as Octopus, Verimatrix, Alcatel-Lucent, Motorolla, Microsoft, etc.
*Knowledge of multi-vendor IP streamers/encoders, VOD Servers, Set- Top-Boxes.
*Troubleshooting IPTV issues from both networking and media perspectives:
oDeep knowledge in testing IPTV performance using parameters such as Media Delivery Index (MDI), Network Jitter, and Media Loss Rate (MLR)
oIPTV head end system monitoring and management (Satellite Dishes/LNBs, Splitters, Streamers, Middle ware, VOD server, and any IPTV Application Server).
oTroubleshooting of any alarm generated from the head-end or the end user equipment (EPG encoding errors, Satellite signal errors, STB freezes, TV errors, etc).
*Provide/Produce documentation and technical reports on the IPTV head-end system performance on periodic basis.
*Understand fundamentals of TCP/IP and TFTP server.
*Experience with MS Office and MS Visio.
*Ability to parse TCP/IP packet dumps from software such as WireShark to troubleshoot different IPTV network issues.
*Diagnose network connectivity issues.
*Understanding of the following technologies: USB, Ethernet, HDMI, SATA, etc
*Exposure to streaming media technologies ie DVB, MPEG2, MPEG4, RTP, PVR/DVR, HD-TV, Graphics/OSD, Audio/Video, IPTV.
*Network Architecture Knowledge is a plus
*A minimum of 5 years experience in IPTV networks implementations and operations.
