MS4 Application Developer III
POSITION PURPOSE
The MS4 Application Developer III's role as a senior developer is to create and maintain applications designed to support the business operations of Patient Revenue Systems within the EHR Program and across the entire enterprise. The MS4 Application Developer III will also provide expertise to other developers and perform hands-on architecture and design, in addition to development and maintenance duties.
Reports to: Application Development Manager
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy large/complex MedSeries4 modifications and custom applications in conformance with SDLC and asset management policies and procedures.
- Provide technical problem solving support for complex application development related issues.
- Provide expertise to other developers and perform hands-on architecture, design and development of applications. Including training and mentoring of staff with less experience and assist in the resolution of issues elevated from staff with less experience.
- Partner with the business to further define requirements, explain technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients.
- Work with Business SMEs and development teams to provide best-practice assurance across customizations, vendor integration, maintainability, etc.
- Comply with all IT policies and procedures, and verify deliverables meet Information Security requirements.
- Lead and/or participate in design, code, and test peer review sessions throughout life cycle to identify tuning/optimization opportunities and issues.
- Champion and assist with the continual refinement, execution, and management of enterprise structured development model, development toolkit, and key policies and procedures related to source code/versioning management.
- Participate in on call duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- 7+ years of IT experience in a hospital or medical related industry.
- 5+ years of experience programming in IBM RPG400 and Siemens MedSeries4.
- Experience with IBM Rational products and working with a global development team is strongly desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Deep foundational technical knowledge of networks, IBM AS400/Power7 technology and supporting software tools, and their impact on application development and support.
- Extensive working knowledge of the following:
- IBM RPG400.
- Siemens MedSeries4.
- SQL.
- IBM AS400 DB2.
- Working knowledge HL7 and HIPAA transaction sets is strongly desired.
- Strong technical problem solving skills.
- Strong practical knowledge and understanding of SDLC methodologies.
- Possess a strong ability to document system/technical portion of assigned deliverables, including the version description and release notes.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.
- Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.
- A demand for personal and team excellence.
- Ability to drive results in complex, matrixed, and partially outsourced environments; experience working in a team.
Academic:
- Bachelors degree in a business management or technical/medical discipline. oriented, collaborative environment.
