Position: Unix/Solaris Administrator

Location: Atlanta, GA (downtown)

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 6 months + (common to see people here for multiple years on contract)

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the administration and maintenance of server hardware platforms, UNIX operating systems and related system software. The primary responsibilities for the UNIX/Solaris Administrator include installing and maintaining server hardware and operating systems. Installing and maintaining system software. Provide second-level support to other areas both within and outside of IT. Follow standard processes for hardware, software and project completion, problem resolution and change management. Provide full life cycle management for Servers and system software. Diagnose and resolve problems to meet service level expectations. Participate in departmental initiatives. Communicate progress, problems and best practices to management, leads and teammates.

Job Requirements:

  • General knowledge of UNIX/Solaris hardware platforms and other components (CPU, clusters, storage area networks, disk and tape arrays and special equipment such as DVD, CD or optical disk)
  • Solaris SPARC 8, 9, 10
  • Veritas Volume Manager/Veritas File System
  • Veritas Cluster Server
  • Understanding of SPARC LDOM's
  • General knowledge of creating and maintaining Solaris containers
  • General knowledge migrating physical to virtual Servers running in containers
  • General knowledge of various implementations of UNIX (Solaris, Linux, HPUX)
  • General knowledge of UNIX system administration tasks
  • Basic knowledge of Shell and Perl programming
  • Basic knowledge of security policies
  • Red Hat experience is a plus
  • Oracle Linux experience is a plus
  • Oracle VM experience is a plus
