We have an immediate opening for a Project Manager with one of the most dynamic companies in Atlanta. As a Project Manager, you will join a massive, industry changing initiative.  You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day aspects of one or more project or work-streams to the four constraints - time, cost, quality and scope. You will also be accountable for developing and maintaining project plans, coordinating work between multiple groups and reporting all risks and issues up through management.

Education/Experience 

  • Bachelor degree in an IT-related discipline 
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects 
  • CAPM or PMP certification a plus, not required 
  • Experience with Agile projects a plus

Skills and Competencies 

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to develop project plans, manage individual deadlines and goals 
  • Advanced proficiency with all MS Office applications, including Visio, and most importantly, MS Project
  • Experience with Clarity a plus 
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and problems, suggest solutions and escalate as appropriate
  • Highly organized with good time management skills 
  • Customer service orientation, and strong interpersonal skills, including conflict management
  • Analytical thinker with creative problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Possess general understanding of software development (application programming, database and system design; understands Internet, Intranet, Extranet and RIA architectures)

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Team Leads to develop integrated baseline project plans applying estimating models, identify resources and skills required, document estimating assumptions, refine plans and manage performance against them to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Manage project scope by assessing requirements changes; work with leads to determine impact to budget, time and risk
  • Coordinate review of deliverables prepared by team. 
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately 
  • Clarify, identify, and track action items, issues; follow up and ensure approved corrective actions are taken
  • Remove barriers, resolve minor issues; escalate to Team Lead and/or Program Manager where required
  • Document and track tactical project risks 
  • Report weekly status without bias 
  • Track team planned vs. actual hours/$ on a weekly basis; assist Program Manager with quarterly forecasts
  • Work with other team project managers, project coordinators and the PMO to ensure cross-project dependences are well-documented and tracked
  • Effectively apply our methodology and ensure project standards are met
  • Conduct project closure initiatives, including lessons learned
  • Document and archive project activities, deliverables, tools and findings for future projects

Communication 

  • Facilitate meetings effectively. Hold daily standup meetings with project team
  • Keep project team well informed of changes within the organization and general project news using collaboration software, email, and verbal methods
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in developing engaging, informative, well-organized presentations 
  • Communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully 
  • Effectively communicate relevant project information to management 
  • Maintain awareness of new and industry best practices

  • Consistently acknowledge and appreciate team member's contributions
  • Build relationships by communicating effectively with our business partners and management
  • Train or provide guidance to other team members on tools and processes where necessary
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change
