Job Title: Systems Engineer

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
3-7+ years of professional systems administration experience with web applications
Strong Linux skills including Shell Scripting
Familiarity with security and monitoring tools (eg Nessus, OpsView)
Familiarity with source control tools (eg Subversion)
Strong understanding of HTTP load balancing concepts, especially with F5 BigIP hardware.
Security - NMAP, Nessus, Nikto, IPTables, GNUPG, PGP, Tripwire, Chkrootkit, Port Sentry, Cisco ASA/PIX, Logcheck, Bastille.
Applications - nagios,webmetrics, Apache HTTP Web Server, IIS, Tomcat, Jetty, Kickstart, Jumpstart, Puppet, Splunk, Jmeter
Education:
BS/MS in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
NICE TO HAVE:
Experience with administering Windows Operating Systems. Our environment consists of 70% Linux and 30% Windows
Job Description:
Automate the deployment and maintenance procedures for the infrastructure using software distribution tools
Configure and maintain the upkeep of monitoring system to efficiently detect existing issues and predict future issues based on trends.
Analyze outages/systems instabilities, able to provide detailed documentation and recommend improvements
Configure and maintain Continuous Integration tools and centralize a variety of systems scheduled jobs
Ensure backups are up to date and help perform a periodic Disaster Recovery exercise.
Work on 1st shift (7am - 4pm) and participate in a 24X7 on-call rotation and periodic night/weekend maintenance.
This is a one year contract in the Chicago area.
