My Brussels based client has an urgent requirement for a Systems Engineer within its Systems Support team, to undertake technical projects for upgrade of systems utilities under Unix and Windows, and to collaborate in the installation of new Middleware products required for applications projects.

In addition, as temporary member of the Systems Support team, the candidate will provide assistance in the administration and maintenance of server installations under Unix and Windows and other tasks required for maintenance of operational systems.

  • To analyse and validate architecture proposals for new installations and upgrades, including impact analysis on existing infrastructure and internal security requirements
  • To undertake technical projects for the upgrade and rehosting of system utilities in a Solaris 10/Windows Server 2008/Oracale 11g environment
  • To collaborate in the implementation of new Middleware products, eg the installation of Java IDE and associated tools.

Skills required:-

  • Experience in integrated operational environments running on a combination of Unix (Solaris 10) and Windows Servers, including systems utilities such as Oracle database, Networker backup and restore, Control-M automated job scheduling, Rational configuration management.
  • Hands-on experience of Network services including DNS, WINS and Kerberos.
  • Experience in administration of integrated development environments and configuration management systems such as Visual Source Safe and Rational Change Management.
  • Experience of troubleshooting and incident resolution.
  • Experience in documentation of technical procedures
