Job Description (Summary)
The role comprises working within a business unit to analyse data (mainly on an Enterprise Datawarehouse deployed on a large-scale Teradata RDBMS) in the context of servicing critical Finance, Credit and Risk reporting within a Financial Services organisation.
Job Functions and Scope
- Define reporting requirements in conjunction with other business stakeholders.
- Analyse data on the EDW (ideally via SQL) to assess appropriate data mapping to reporting requirements.
- Develop and test Proof-of-Concepts (aka POCs) relating to data/report mapping.
- Prepare business specification documents for IT to develop and implement production solutions on foot of POCs. These IT solution deliverables will range from data acquisition (to address identified data mapping gaps) to data transformation to report generation.
- Action and document User Acceptance Testing of outputs from IT solutions.
- Pro-actively identify business insights (information trends, data quality issues etc.) and raise with appropriate stakeholders.
- Pro-actively identify opportunities for improved process efficiencies within the business unit and the wider organisation.
- Be recognised as a technical expert - especially with regard to data analytics against the EDW RDBMS from the perspective of Finance, Credit and Risk.
Key skills
- Advanced SQL expertise (preferably wrt Teradata RDBMS)
- Alternatively, use of Hyperion Brio or Interactive Reporting as SQL-generator
- Business knowledge of Finance, Credit and Risk within a Financial Services organisation
- Professional documentation skills wrt authoring business specification documents to drive IT solution design.
- Strong communication and relationship skills for liaison with a wide variety of business and technical contacts across all levels of seniority.
- Forensic quality assurance skills with proven ability to test & reconcile outputs from IT solutions.
Experience
- 7-year's practical experience of complex data analytics against large-scale RDBMS.
Preferable but not Mandatory
- 7+ year's practical experience of working within Finance, Credit and/or Risk functions within a Financial Services organisation.
Academic Qualification
Candidates must have either a primary or Masters Degree (minimum 2:2) in a numeric discipline (eg Mathematics, Financial Mathematics, Statistics, Management Science, Computer Science, MSc Business Analytics, MBS/MBA with specialism in Information Management).
