Our client is a leading international company in the Tourism industry with more than 2500 employees and 30 offices worldwide.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Market Manager is responsible for maximizing opportunities in assigned market(s) through effective sourcing of lodging inventory and ownership of all aspects of the commercial relationship in the ongoing achievement of agreed targets

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • Through the effective use of knowledge of high/low occupancy periods for owned market(s), create and maintain a key events calendar to meet market demand and allow for targeted growth.
  • Prepare strategic plan that defines key & potential revenue producers to be targeted & align with metrics/KPIs set in order to grow the business to agreed levels in the assigned market(s)
  • Effective use of knowledge & understanding of market forces.
  • Prepare market strategy that specifies revenue producers to be targeted for potential business growth in the period.
  • Secure and negotiate industry leading Rates and Availability (R&A), Contract and bring live.
  • Strategically increase lodging inventory in market(s) by increasing inventory in current account base.
  • Identify key new strategic accounts & revenue producers within assigned market(s) to be targeted for the period to strategically increase lodging inventory by bringing in new inventory.
  • Prepare and execute strategic accounts plan for new inventory for the period.
  • Constant monitoring of the company negotiated rates competitiveness against major competitors.
  • Effective account management including ensuring hoteliers are fully briefed on all contract details, relevant processes/services; & are well informed of distribution Channel opportunities.
  • Ensure communication plan with lodging partners includes marketing & merchandising opportunities.
  • Represent the company at Trade Shows and host events as required.
  • Work with Group stakeholders in assigned market(s) to develop build commercially appropriate Group service offerings and execute accordingly.
  • Offer guidance and mentoring support to less experienced members of the team (including accompanying them on trips or with negotiation deals as required).
  • Manages and distributes work based on an understanding of who is best placed to deliver eg uses understanding of team members' skills and availability to make decisions
  • Looks beyond past results to set challenging but realistic goals for performance improvement for self or team

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Previous sales, business development, account or revenue management experience preferably in the hotel or travel industry.
  • Strong commercial & sales skills with a working knowledge of hotel distribution including revenue and inventory management.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to interact and influence at all levels of an organisation including hotel management and owners.
  • Superb written and verbal communication and presentation skills Italian. Verbal and written English proficiency at business level.
  • Proven ability to build strong internal and external relationships with individuals and hotel partners using an open and consultative approach.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking.
  • IT proficiency including good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (with particular focus on manipulating data via Excel pivot) and Internet technologies.
  • In tune with the distribution landscape including shifts in preferred hotel distribution channels and industry technology (eg Pegasus, XMC etc).
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a multi-tasked, fast paced environment
  • Ability to demonstrate & teach others a partnership approach to negotiation and sales.
