The Software Asset Management Team Lead is the primary point of accountability for the life cycle management of software assets throughout the Company to include the development and maintenance of policies, standards, processes, systems and measurements that enable the software asset management team to manage the software portfolio with respect to risk, cost control, IT Governance, compliance and business performance objectives as established by the business.

Responsibilities

 Responsible for visualizing, anticipating and articulating a life cycle software asset strategy for the company and when volume licensing/maintenance programs and/or contract terms changes, or when the environment changes due to an acquisition or divestiture.

 Responsible for all IT licensing needs and analysing the current license portfolio in order to identify opportunities to streamline licenses, contracts and vendors where possible:

- Globally responsible for license management of client and server software.
- Be up-to-date on the IT business changes and opportunities.

- Support the IT organization, Legal, Security, Risk Finance and Procurement departments in all licensing activities to optimize licensing, contract management and supplier evaluations.

- Initiate and lead process improvement activities, ranging in scope from departmental to enterprise-wide initiatives.

 Help manage the Software Asset Management function within Sears Holdings.

 Direct automation and improve accuracy of software inventory and usage processes through the implementation of an asset management tool.

 Drive and help team to reduce software costs:

- Eliminate or reallocate unused software licenses.

- Consolidation of software assets.

- Consolidation of contracts.

 Limit business and legal risks:

- Avoid software license compliance violations.

- Comply with vendor terms and government regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley through more accurate reporting of software assets and liabilities.

- Secure that applications procurement and distribution is performed in line with national laws and regulations.

- Work closely with implementation and deployment teams to ensure compliant distribution of software.

 Streamline and simplify access to software asset data.

 Provide leadership and coordination during internal and external audits.  Conduct, support and report on all internal software audits.  Advise IT management, Application owners and work with IT Legal and Procurement of potential license or contract compliance issues.

 Direct and manage software license reclamation processes.  Provide recommendations on licensing, reconciliation, and re-harvest.

 Consult with clients on obtaining the right licensing/agreement base.

 Resolve internal discrepancies identified in asset management database.

 Provide periodic reporting to IT Management and application owners.

 Influence software purchasing, assuring adherence to software policy and established procedures in conjunction with purchasing and procurement groups.  Act as a subject matter expert, assisting groups within and outside of IT with software purchasing and licensing knowledge.

 Use business relationships to maintain awareness of corporate projects and facilitate continual awareness of new software releases, upgrades/maintenance, and new service offerings.

 Proactively research software product information in order to provide an evaluation of alternatives and make software selection recommendations.

 Use asset management repository and discovery tools to track software license information.

 Proactively produce relevant reports for IT management and vendors.

 Acts as an IT Asset Analyst as demand dictates.

 Acts as a subject matter expert for IT Software License Management.

 Builds relationships with the business units to ensure good working relationship and effective communication methods and paths.
