Looking for a system administrator for a client in Frisco, TX 3 month contract!

Job Title: Systems Operations Engineer

We currently have an opportunity for a Systems Operations Engineer to join this organization.

The responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Provide daily operational support of the Software as a Service infrastructure. This would include review of operational logs; backup and replication activities; platform security alerts and patch requirements; and tracking of performance metrics.
  • SaaS infrastructure currently consists of Windows and Red Hat/Centos Servers, Oracle and MS SQL database Servers, VMware hosts, Gigabit Ethernet Switches and iSCSI Storage.
  • Work closely with key team members both offshore and onsite at all levels of the organization. Will interact tactfully with internal and external IT organizations, as necessary to perform the role effectively.
  • Participate in client-facing meetings and support calls for SaaS clients to help resolve problems or answer questions.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of changes to the infrastructure. Recommend changes required to improve the performance or stability of the infrastructure.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of security operations activities.
  • Provide training to the internal and external staff as needed regarding the infrastructure setup for the company's product offerings.
  • Perform server software installations and upgrades.
  • Monitor, analyze and troubleshoot system environments, maintain appropriate version control, administration of scripts for file manipulation and programming access to multiple environments; Conduct synchronization of data and programs across environments.
  • Provide 24x7 support for related escalations from the technical team both offshore and onsite along with the SaaS resources is mandatory.
  • Create and support deployment scripts and manager deployments to staging and production.
  • Setup and maintain Wiki and other corporate support software.
  • Setup and maintain Subversion and Git code management environment.
  • Build and support development environment(s), as needed.
  • Support and test disaster recovery environment. Verify that the DR environment will be able to support the current SaaS environment.
  • Set up and maintain system monitoring and automate alerts for applications, database Servers. Also install and support any other tools required to manage patches, upgrades, and other activities.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience with various server technologies, data center operations, server hardware and software solutions including Linux and Windows. This should also include operation of virtualized infrastructure (VMWare, Xen, HyperV).
  • 5+ years performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and problem management experience for web-based architectures using Nagios and other open source tools.
  • 5+ years UNIX experience of some variety.
  • 3+ years building secure, scalable, stable and manageable production systems with server technologies and related 3rd party solutions.
  • 3+ years network infrastructure experience. This should include switch configuration and change management processes; VPN setup and support; and basic Router configuration.
  • 3+ years iSCSI storage area network experience.
  • Experience must include hosted application installation, upgrade, and maintenance.
  • Experience with database administration, version control and custom programming is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
