POSTION DESCRIPTION:
The scope of the Cerner Millennium Software Architect includes documentation of Laboratory work flows and performing Cerner Millennium Pathnet code building. The process is project-based and involves all aspects of the project life cycle from inception to implementation. Work categories for this role include understanding and documentation of Laboratory workflow, work flow doducmentation, estimating requirements, analysing efficiencies, performing Millennium coding, may conduct and support functional testing, debugging, documentation, scheduling/managing new program releases and/or updates, configuring/deploying the program/application/system update for implementation and ongoing maintenance (database development, job scheduling, network support, responding to client/user requests and issues).

EDUCATION:
Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or related healthcare field or
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems technology

EXPERIENCE:
8+ years of technical experience in a fast paced, Information Technology Department consisting of a combination of staff and contractors.
8+ years as a bench level Medical Technologist and equivalent experience with clinical laboratory information systems or Ancillary Information Systems
8+ years experience with personal computers, particularly with database, spreadsheet, and/or word processing software
A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office products and networking concepts

Demonstrated abilities in management/supervision within a team
Demonstrated knowledge of confidentiality of medical information
Demonstrated strengths in system analysis and design skills
Demonstrated effectiveness in troubleshooting skills
Demonstrated experience working with laboratory instruments and their functions
Experience installing and maintaining database/dictionary for one or more of the following:
Cerner Millennium PathNet
Cerner CCL
Cerner CoPathPlus Anatomic Pathology
Demonstrated communication skills with a variety of technical, clinical and management stakeholders. Demonstrated training experience and documentation skills, Demonstrated application system acceptance testing skills, Working knowledge of interfaces between Laboratory Information Systems/Ancillary System and HIS, Basic Unix knowledge, Strong analytical ability and interpersonal skills to communicate with clients, other IT staff and vendors

PREFERRED SKILLS:
Cerner Millennium Laboratory Information System support experience (highly preferred), Recent experience with clinical laboratory medicine and/or clinical laboratory information systems continuing education programs preferred. Enterprise Change Management applications (Remedy), Application Lifecycle management tools (Borland StarTeam, Caliber)

Top 3-5 required skills:
Design, build, and testing experience with Cerner's Millennium Product Modules: Pathnet, Mircobiology, and Blood Bank.

Top 3-5 desired skills:
Healthcare Clinical Laboratory work flow experience.
