Description

The Configuration Manager/Team Lead is responsible for the quality and integrity of the day to day configuration process execution and is responsible for the process execution is in line with the process design (defined by the process owner.)  He/she is also the interface to the other process managers.

The Configuration Manager/Team Lead maintains, enforces, and enhances the Configuration Management Solution.  This is primarily a development and management role, focused on ensuring accurate and timely availability of CI information for operational use.  The role provides an interface to other service delivery partner groups (eg Business Systems, Data Center), ensuring effective integration of the Configuration Management process.

The Configuration Manager also owns and executes the audit plan for the verification of configuration data and the accuracy of the CMDB content.

Responsibilities
-Ensures implementation of process strategy.
-Coordinates day-to-day execution of the Configuration Management process.
-Performs detailed design of the workflow.
-Defines job roles and responsibilities and alignment to resource (which roles are combined into one job).
-Estimates work duration and volumes for each task and sub process to determine FTE requirements.
-Develops team staffing requirements.
-Identifies and implements changes to the process.
-Identifies exceptions and deviations, as well as management of these situations.
-Communicates new and changed Configuration Management policies.
-Ensures the Configuration Management standards and procedures are being followed.
-Facilitates resource commitment and allocation.
-Identifies and implements process improvements.
-Identifies reporting requirements and recipients and collaborates with report specialist to create and distributes reports.
Identifies problems and suggests improvements to the Process Owner.
-Acts as focal point for process; communicates with clients, service providers, and management.
-Facilitates resolution of issues with items not complying with the process.
-Ensures post-reviews of critical work.
-Chairs review meetings.
-Follows defined escalation path when needed, as defined in the escalation policy.
-Ensures all work is assigned.
-Reviews all planned work.
-Provides final approvals for any scheduling or rescheduling.
-Ensure post review of exceptions.
-Proposes methods for minimizing exceptions.
-Ensures effective communications.
-Plans how verification and auditing of Configuration data will be managed.
-Plans for individual audits.
-Audits related communications.
-Evaluates reports and report production.
-Uses tools including: CMDB, Report Tool and Configuration Management Information Collection Tool.
-Responsible for management of Configuration Management third party supplier(s)
