Description
Senior System Engineer
Seeking senior level system engineer to provide technical expertise in the support, implementation of Microsoft Windows based server systems, VMware, XenServer hosts and hosted virtual systems, and HP hardware solutions. Candidate will also make assignments to and assists team members as necessary to manage or co-manage a project.
Duties Include:
-Provide day to day expertise and system support for the Windows Network and the Intel server farm.
-Support of Windows Server, Advanced Server, and Active Directory and all associated Server applications.
-Hardware & Virtual server build. Installation and configuration of hardware and break/fix.
-Knowledge of Change Management process & Problem ticketing resolution.
-Keep abreast of current vendor security issues or problem resolution patches, testing, and roll-outs to production.
-Manages and provide out of hours support global server systems.
-Coordinates or assists in the coordination of assigned projects for the maintenance and development of systems in assigned areas. Uses superior customer service skills to ensure systems meet the needs of the client.
-Operates, maintains and monitors the VMware ESX Infrastructure.
-Able to maintain and monitor Citrix XenServer environment.
Support in a high-availability infrastructures including clustered Servers, SANs, NAS, redundant network topologies.
-Keep abreast of current vendor security issues or problem resolution patches, testing, and roll-outs to production.
-Conduct research studies into significant technological advances within areas of expertise that directly address Company or departmental goals and make recommendations for cost savings for new technologies.
-Reports project progress to department and client management as needed to ensure appropriate levels of support to meet project goals.
-Prepare programs and systems as necessary to support assigned project tasks.
Skills:
-Technical acumen with server technologies that deliver solutions for application and business clients.
-Configuration and maintenance of Windows (Server) platform.
-Implementation of the following: Active Directory, Windows Registry, Group Policies.
-Hardware knowledge, preferably IBM or HP systems including monitoring, tuning, and HP SIM management. HP Blade experience is a plus.
Work Experience:
-Four to six years of professional work experience in an information services environment is required.
Education/Training:
-A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science is preferred.
License/Registration/Certification:
-Microsoft, Citrix or VMware Certifications are desirable.
-Hours may include evenings and/or weekends and may include 24 hour a day on call support by pager and/or cell phone.
