Come and join a large reputable global IT Outsourcer that has over 3000 staff throughout Australia and New Zealand. They are known as the supplier of choice for leading corporate and government organisations based in this region and offer lots of career opportunities to their staff!This expanding international organisation is currently seeking a Unix System Administrator on a 3 month contract basis to be based at their client's site. You will be responsible for the day to day delivery of performing Unix system administration duties as well as SAN storage based services.Your main responsibilities will include to:
  • To perform systems administration on Unix Servers, which run corporate systems.
  • Administer all Unix Systems, to ensure optimum operation and services, ensuring patch levels etc are maintained, capacity monitored and security policies are followed.
  • Assist the Information Services team in establishing the technical system environment for new applications and changes to existing ones.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level user support for UNIX related incidents or problems (logged through Help Desk), in line with SLAs, and customer service expectations.
  • To assist Technical Services in the running up of UNIX related front ends for PC's.
  • To monitor the performance of various hardware and software components, configuring and managing them.
To be successful in obtaining this position you will have previous experience in the following;
  • Detailed understanding of UNIX Servers, Operating Systems and related products.
  • Detailed understanding of SAN technology, Storage Systems, Fabric Switches and related products.
  • Proven experience in the system administration of Unix-based systems for medium to large corporate environments
  • Extensive experience in open distributed systems in a LAN/WAN environment and TCP/IP.
  • Familiarity with network devices such as hubs, Routers, modems
  • A sound understanding of most IT infrastructure; PCs, Mid-Range, Client Server, LAN/WAN, Operating Systems (eg UNIX, Windows 2003, Windows NT), Databases (eg Oracle, SYBASE and MS SQL SERVER) and different hardware platforms.
  • Experience with remote management tools
