* Engineering Construction Manager *
My client is currently undertaking the redevelopment and refurbishment of a large industrial plant, based in Hampshire, near the Wiltshire & Dorset borders. They require an Engineering Construction Manager to plan and oversee the construction phase (which includes out of hours work) conducted by contracted construction workers and engineers.
Responsibilities will include:
- Working with the Project Manager and business stakeholders to help define the plans, required resources and timescales for delivery of the construction work.
- On-site supervision to ensure that the work being undertaken meets pre-agreed designs, specifications and is conducted in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Management of contract construction staff, maintaining records of site activities, reporting on progress against schedule.
Required experience:
- Experienced in previously managing construction staff on a minimum of 3 medium to large developments, preferably with an industrial focus (rather than residential/commercial property).
- A strong understanding of and experienced in applying health & safety legislation, corporate safety procedures and knowledge of CDM (Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007).
- A thorough commercial understanding of how to deliver projects successfully, such as appropriate resource levels, evaluating variations on designs mid project and minimising disruption to site operations.
The contract is initially for 6 months with the first part of the contract based in offices in Surrey to work with the Project Manager on the construction plans. The role will then move to working on-site, so candidates must be able to commute to both sites in Surrey and then Hampshire for work.
