GREAT contract to perm opportunity to join a global technology company with self-service solutions for ATM machines and software, POS and Retail systems, and airline check-in systems as a Software Applications Engineer/Programmer II!
This position deals with the development and enhancement of a Self-Service Check Out system for Food and other markets. This project is being jointly developed with the help of several other internal and external software development groups both in the US and abroad. The incumbent will be required to quickly gain expertise in various vendors system software during the course of the project. The ability to work effectively in a team environment composed of peers and cross-functional members is very important as is the ability to be focused and a self-starter. Project work varies considerably in a range of technologies and environments from Legacy integration to up-to-the minute software development with the latest tools and technologies. Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to new challenges quickly is critical. Local and International travel may also be required.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Responsible for scoping, design, implementation, testing, and systems integration of software components for this system.
Development involves the following system areas, and others:
Retail and Financial Device Subsystems Retail Application Control and Interface Development Systems Diagnostics and utilities Retail Application Control Interface Design and Implementation Application Configuration.
Tools Education/Experience:
BS or MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience required.
3 8 years professional software development experience desired.
Experience in Systems-level software design and development.
Object Oriented Design and Analysis experience preferred.
MFC, ATL, Win32, COM/ActiveX, and C runtime Libraries and APIs.
Either Strong C++ or Java (J2SE) skills are required both are desired.
Experience with NT/2000/XP Multi-threaded development required.
Experience with developing for Windows 32-bit environment and Win32.
Experience with Visual Studio C++ and associated debugging tools.
Experience with Visual Source Safe and InstallShield or Setup Factory.
Nice to have:
Experience with NetBeans and ANT OPOS/JPOS knowledge a strong plus.
POS Checkout Application knowledge a strong plus.
Self Service and Retail Peripheral Knowledge very strongly desired.
Retail solutions experience preferred (NCR, IBM, Retalix, SNI, and/or ICL).
Experience with Linux and Driver Level development a plus.
Experience with Communication with Serial/USB ports a plus.
Experience with multi-thread COM and or JavaBeans development a plus.
